Accounts Executive

Location: Bangalore (On-site)
Business Unit: Financial Management Services
Employment Type: Full-time
Experience: Completed CA articleship, or approximately 2 years in a finance and accounting role

If you are strong on judgment, curiosity and ownership but lighter on accounting depth, apply anyway.

About this role:
Most accounts executive roles ask you to run a list. Someone senior decides what needs doing, you do it, they
check it. You get good at the list.

This one is built the other way round. You will own the books of a client account end to end, with AI doing a large share of the preparation and drafting — and your value will sit in the parts AI cannot do: working out what the task actually is, deciding what is worth handing to a machine and what is not, catching the output that is confidently wrong, and being the person who can explain the number to the client and stand behind it.

It means you will spend less time producing schedules and more time answering questions like: this line moved
40% year on year — why, and does it matter?
It also means that when something is wrong, it is yours.

We think this is the more interesting version of the job. It is also harder, and it is not for everyone.

What you will do

  • Own an account’s books. General ledger, payables and receivables, bank and credit reconciliations, month
end close — delivered on your own timetable against agreed deadlines, not as tasks assigned to you daily.
  • Explain the numbers, not just produce them. Prepare and review management reports, and be able to say what is driving a movement between two periods and why. If travel expense is up, we expect “up because four events were run in Q2, of which two were unbudgeted” — not “up 31%”.
  • Run compliance to calendar. GST, TDS and income tax filings, with the returns prepared, reviewed and
evidenced rather than filed and hoped for.
  • Use AI as a working instrument, and check its work. You will use internal skill files and AI tooling for
reconciliation, drafting, documentation and analysis. You will be accountable for every output that leaves
your hands, including the parts you did not type.
  • Define work before you start it. When a task arrives underspecified, you ask what, why, when and how; you break it into steps; you send back your assumptions for confirmation. That confirmed brief is what you then work from — and what you hand to the tooling.
  • Hand work over cleanly. Status, what the evidence is, what is still open, and what the risk is — clearly
enough that whoever picks it up next does not redo it.
  • Talk to the client. Queries, status, and eventually the substance of the account. Not immediately, and not
unsupported — but the trajectory of this role is toward you being the voice on that call.
  • Improve the process you inherit. You will find things done a certain way because they have always been
done that way. We would rather you asked why.

    What we are looking for
    Essential
  • A sound grip on accounting fundamentals — you can write a journal entry and say exactly where it lands in
the balance sheet and the P&L, and reason backwards from a statement to the entries behind it.
  • Real working use of AI tools, and the ability to talk about it honestly: what you tried, what went wrong, how
you found out, what you changed, and where you decided not to use it.
  • The habit of asking clarifying questions before starting, rather than producing something and discovering the requirement afterwards.
  • Comfortable with spreadsheets at a genuinely advanced level, and with cloud accounting platforms — Zoho
    Books, QuickBooks, Tally or equivalent.
  • Clear written and spoken English — enough to write a status update, an escalation and a client email without them being rewritten.
  • Either a completed Two-year articleship with a CA firm, or approximately two years of hands-on finance and
accounting experience. B.Com or equivalent; CA-inter is a plus, not a requirement.

    Valued, and weighted heavily
  • Evidence that you learn without being told to — a course you took, a tool you picked up, something in your
field you read this month and can talk about.
  • Willingness to make a call and defend it, alongside the discipline to check before you make it. We are more
wary of people who accept a tool’s output as a decision than of people who verify twice.
  • Any data or automation capability — Power BI, SQL, Python, scripting. You do not need it. It will not go
    unnoticed.
  • Exposure to a client-facing or outsourced-delivery environment.

What we offer

  • End-to-end ownership early. Not a slice of a process. An account.
  • A defined growth path. The capability framework this role is built on is published internally — you will know what the next level requires and how you are being assessed against it.
  • Working AI infrastructure, not a subscription. Domain skill files built by our own specialists, and the
expectation that you use them and improve them.
  • Domain coaching. Structured support to close accounting gaps, if that is where your gaps are.
  • Compensation aligned to the role, with increments based on demonstrated capability movement rather than tenure.
